Containing only three habitable planets, the Gredides System is home to the Selachee. The planets are mostly water—nine surface parts of water to only two parts of land on the average. Home of the Galactic Bank, the Gredides System has banking as its only major industry.

Each of the three planets has about five billion inhabitants, comprising a busy population. Although mostly devoted to banking, among them are also engineers, specialists and, naturally, lots of mathematicians.

Lacking a large military force, the Gredides is protected by the occupation and reputation of its inhabitants. Space flight was developed by their race nearly five hundred thousand years ago.
