Battlefield Earth, the movie based on
L. Ron Hubbards epic science fiction bestseller of the same name, certainly appeared
to be a favorite of DragonCon, the worlds largest multi-media convention held over
July 4th weekend in Atlanta with over 20,000 die-hard fans in attendance. Battlefield Earth seemed to be everywhere - from a presentation of
exclusive behind the scenes footage of the film by the director Roger
Christian (one of the guests of the Convention), to nightly screenings of the film, to
lines of fans waiting to have their movie posters signed - and even a special Dragon award
given to Christian by the Convention chairman Ed Kramer. To crown it all there was a
prediction from a professor of science fiction, Dr. John Flynn, that Battlefield Earth would be nominated for a Hugo Award next year. Flynn
describes the movie as a rousing action-packed, sci-fi adventure with
eye-popping special effects - a truly brilliant work.
Roger Christian was
interviewed at DragonCon by Internet based TNC TV.
