EARNINGS TOP $72 MILLION
Battlefield Earth -- the action-and-special effects packed motion picture adapted from
L. Ron Hubbard's international bestselling science fiction novel -- has earned more than
$72 million since its original theatrical debut in May, 2000.
Cumulative earnings-to-date for the film -- whose actual production budget was less than $55 million -- includes income from domestic and international box office, video rentals, pay TV (HBO) and network TV (SciFi Channel), pay-per-view, syndication and DVD sales.
Battlefield Earth's big-scale special effects have won recognition in recent weeks from a growing number of film critics, including ABC TV's top duo, Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper.
