Psychlos Discover Universe 16 and Earth
In the fall of 1977 (Earth
time) the two Voyager spacecraft were launched to explore some
of the outer planets in the solar system. In the 1980s, after accomplishing
their intended missions, they began drifting off in different directions
into space.
Universe 16 (the one Earth
is in) was the last of the universes to be discovered by the Psychlos.
As the solar system containing Earth
is what could be called a "rim star system," it might
have been completely missed during the Psychlos'
exploration of their new universe, if not for the probe sent from
Earth. The probe, according
to the Psychlo history
books, contained metals that were rare in many places throughout
the galaxies and had pictures of Earth
and its inhabitants with the exact coordinates of the planet listed.
